Starting over or moving house
Reshape your rooms, see what Restructure keeps and deletes, and find out how a new home gets its chores.
Four ways to start over
Sometimes you just want to tidy things up. Home layout lets you rename your household, reorder your rooms, or edit and delete a room, without touching anything else.
When you want a bigger change, Restructure home offers two paths. Remodelling changes your home type and floor layout while keeping every room, task, and completed-chore history. We moved house clears your current rooms and tasks for a fresh start. Everything attached to those rooms goes with them, including completion history and any before and after photos, and there is no way to get it back. Your activity feed, coins, streaks, achievements, household members, Premium, shopping list and meal plans all stay.
Only the household admin can run either one, and you'll need to be signed in, but it isn't a Premium feature, so the free plan covers it too.
The most drastic option is deleting your account. If you're the only admin in your household, deleting your account takes the whole household with it, Premium included.
Where to start
- 1
Open Profile → Home layout to rename your household, reorder rooms, or edit and delete a room.
- 2
From Home layout, tap Restructure home to change your home type or start fresh after a move.
- 3
To delete your account entirely, go to Profile → Account and scroll to the Danger zone.
The Restructure screen
Change your home type. Keep all your rooms, tasks, and history.
A new home, a clean slate. Your rooms and tasks are replaced.

- Restructure home rowopens the wizard for a signed-in admin. A non-admin sees an explainer popover instead, and an admin who hasn't signed in yet sees a prompt to sign in first.
- Remodelling cardkeeps all your rooms, tasks, and completed-chore history; only your home type and floor layout change.
- We moved house cardpermanently deletes your current rooms, their tasks, completion history and photos; keeps your activity feed, coins, streaks and furniture inventory.
- Hold to apply (final step)nothing is applied until you press and hold the broom; letting go early cancels it.
Making the change
Rename your household
- 1
On Home layout, edit the Household name field.
- 2
Tap Save once you're happy. A Cancel link appears too, if you change your mind.
Tidy a room
- 1
On Home layout, tap a room to open Edit room.
- 2
Change the name or pick an emoji, then tap Save changes.
- 3
To reorder rooms instead, long-press a row and drag it into place.
Add a room
- 1
Tap Add a room at the bottom of Home layout.
- 2
Pick a room type. This fills in a name and emoji, and pre-checks the usual chores for that type. Pick a custom room instead and nothing is pre-checked.
- 3
Adjust which chores are included, then continue.
- 4
Set the room's name, emoji, floor, and starting condition, then confirm. The new tasks appear on your Today list straight away.
Delete a room
- 1
Open Edit room and tap Delete room, or delete it from the room's own detail screen instead.
- 2
Confirm on the alert. For a room called Kitchen it reads: "Kitchen and all its tasks will be removed. This can't be undone."
- 3
This removes the room's tasks, completions, and any approvals along with it.
Restructure your home
- 1
Tap Restructure home, then choose Remodelling or We moved house.
- 2
Set your home type and floors, including a basement if you have one.
- 3
On Remodelling, tap each room to move it to a floor, or choose Delete room and all its history and tap again to confirm. On We moved house, add the rooms you want in your new home instead.
- 4
Check the summary, then continue.
- 5
Press and hold the broom until the track fills. Let go early and it cancels, you can just hold again.
Delete your account
- 1
Go to Profile → Account → Danger zone → Delete account.
- 2
Confirm the first warning, then the second alert, titled Last chance.
- 3
Tap Delete forever, or Manage Subscription first if you want to cancel a paid plan before you go.
What happens afterwards
Remodelling doesn't create anything new: you keep exactly the tasks and history you had, just rearranged onto new floors.
We moved house is different. Every room you add is seeded with its usual default chores automatically, and the success screen tells you exactly how many. For seven rooms it might read: "Your new home is ready, with 38 usual tasks across 7 rooms. Edit any of them whenever you like." Those new tasks appear on Today immediately rather than waiting until tomorrow.
Deleting your account removes your data outright. If you were the sole admin, your household is deleted too, including Premium for anyone else in it. None of this cancels a paid subscription, you'll need to cancel it yourself in the App Store or Play Store.
Good to know
- Restructure isn't a Premium feature, anyone on the free plan can use it, as long as they're the admin and signed in. It can still be blocked: if there's no household set up yet, if recent changes are still syncing, or if a live sprint is in progress.
- There's no undo for a Restructure, and no way to save your place and come back to it. Closing the wizard partway through loses your progress.
- There's no second household to switch into. The only way into another household is by invite, and joining one switches you out of your current one; the only related option on Profile is Leave household.
- Deleting a room from the wizard isn't gentler than deleting it from Home layout. Both remove its tasks, completions, and approvals the same way.
- Renaming your household, reordering rooms, or editing, adding, and deleting a room doesn't require you to be the admin. Any adult household member can do these.
